David didn't go home totally empty handed, he picked up the trophies for "Best Camerawork" for a film called "Postcards" and was winner of "The Minute Class" with his film "Sanderling Samba".
The "Best Runner-up" accolade went to yours truly along with awards for "The Best Editing" and "Best Use of Sound" for my entry "Falkirk-sights and sounds you won't forget".
The Documentary and Story classes went to our old friend, Frank Swift with his films " The Pool" and "Where's That Bird" respectively.
Mike Smith went home with the "Miscellaneous" Trophy for his entry "Haworth - 1940".
As usual our club room was packed to capacity, with just short of sixty making up the audience.
Chairman, Carl, welcomed everyone to the evening but started by asking that we remember two members who sadly passed away within the last two weeks. We were asked to remember John Rickard and Geoff Proctor.
Our competition this year was judged by members of Warrington Cine & Video Society, to whom we are very grateful for their time.
This year was something of a change to previous years. For the past two or three years one of our members, David Crossley, has swept the board. This year, however, there were some new names on the winners list.
The final two awards of the evening to be presented were the judges' "Film of the Year" and this year the award went to Frank, with his film "The Pool".
It was then the turn of our audience to make their choice of "Film of the Year". For once, going against the judges, their vote went to Mike Smith for "Haworth- 1940".
Mike hasn't been with us long, so it was nice to see him on the Winners' rostrum along with Frank, both well-deserved as were all our Winners.
