After a tea break, at which the Secretary realised he'd forgotten to bring any milk, members were shown a short video of work to restore the nearby Gawthorpe Hall. This was a project undertaken by Carl and Keith over the summer.
It proved to be a very entertaining evening and those who were missing will have to try harder next year.
There wasn't too much planning involved in our first night. The Secretary pointed out several important dates in the syllabus, our Chairman, Carl, updated the members on progress with our annual Newsreel. He also complimented Geoff on the successful completion of the club's first venture into a fiction film for some many years.
Carl then showed a quick look at some footage he shot in Northumberland. This involved Mrs. Carl collecting pebbles and stones from the various beach locations. Carl was quite put out at the size of some of the "rocks" she picked and had to remind Irene that they only had a small car and garden.
The first meeting of the new season is always a bit of a worry, you never know how many will turn up as several members can still be away on holiday.
This was just such a meeting. The turnout was a little disappointing; doing a quick tot up we think there were more members absent than present. Clearly the hot summer sunshine proved too attractive.
However it wasn't all doom and gloom.
We welcomed a new member, Michael Smith, to the club. Michael has a filming background so should be a great asset to the club.
